The Shelby Foundation established the Women’s Fund in 2009 to empower women, young and old, to achieve their full potential and thrive as members of our community by promoting intellectual, physical, emotional, social, economic, and cultural growth.

Last year, over 200 women attended the Women’s Fund’s three-part lecture and open-forum discussion series, “Let’s Talk: Woman to Woman”, on issues relevant to adult women from a female perspective. Because of its popularity, the series is back again this year.

The series will kick off on Monday, April 24th, with “What women want to ask but never do” with speaker Melissa Juliano, D.O.  Dr. Juliano, who is known for her vibrant and refreshing no nonsense approach, will discuss medical and health issues that most women experience but are too embarrassed to talk about.

On Monday, June 5th, Shelby native Troy Baker, financial advisor at Edward Jones, will give smart money advice on preparing for retirement. “Securing your future one penny at a time” will feature solid guidance to get retirement ready for those in their twenties to those approaching their golden years.

The third and final presentation of 2017 will focus on nutrition, exercise, and loving your body.  On Monday, September 11th, Adeva Fit owner and fitness expert Lynn Friebel will tag-team with Liz Fields, personal trainer at the Shelby YMCA, to talk about loving the body you were born with and how to take care of yourself with nutrition and exercise.

Programs again will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at The Vault Wine Bar, downtown Shelby. The registration fee is $15, which will include dinner. Come on and grab a girlfriend or two and be part of something inspiring in our community!

Space is limited. For more information about the Women’s Fund of The Shelby and to register for lectures, visit www.theshelbyfoundation.org or call 419-342-3686.
